David Oster completed a 4-year pre-med Bachelor of Science degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, in 1999 and then attended the 4-year program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, in Toronto, graduating in 2004.
In 2005, he and his wife Leah (also an ND) started their naturopathic practice in Collingwood, Ontario. Treating cancer patients captured his clinical passion and personal heart and Dr. Oster’s the focus of practice steadily shifted to an ever-increasing focus on oncology.
After 7 years of general practice, Dr. Oster decided to devote his professional career exclusively to caring for oncology patients and their loved ones. In 2012, he has joined the clinical staff at Cancer Treatment Centers of America hospital (CTCA), in Atlanta, Georgia. This is one of four integrative cancer specialty hospitals CTCA operates.
During his 5 years on the front-lines of a high-volume cancer hospital, Dr. Oster had the rare privilege of working shoulder-to-shoulder on a daily basis with some of the finest medical & radiation oncologists in the country, integrating naturopathic medicine with conventional therapies in real time.
Dr. Oster was board certified as a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO) in 2014, a fellowship reserved only for those NDs who have at least 2 years of concentrated practice in clinical oncology and who pass the national regulatory examinations for this board.
During his time at CTCA, Dr. Oster was recognized with an “Excellence in Leadership Award”, and two “Silver Medal Awards” for the outstanding clinical care of patients, exceeding the already high standards for the facility. His clinical abilities were also recognized by his superiors and he was elected to hold multiple clinical lead positions until he left. Dr. Oster held the Preceptorship Lead (training 9 staff physicians into their clinical roles at the hospital), Clinical Lead (daily coordinating patient care and establishing standards of excellence for his department), stand-in Director, and he was selected as his department’s representative on numerous hospital committees, most notably the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
In 2017 Dr. Oster left CTCA and founded Oster Oncology, a telemedicine-based medical practice designed to deliver his unique expertise in naturopathic integrative oncology via video consultations to patients internationally.
In 2018 Dr. Oster joined Denver Naturopathic Oncology, a clinic in the Denver area founded & operated by Jacob Schor, ND, FABNO. The two now work together to provide their patients with a rare level of clinical expertise in evidence-based integrative oncology, and to be a resource for the oncologists who devotedly care for them as well.
